You know I live in New jersey even if I travel a lot now. New Jersey has a bit of a reputation for being, well, New Jersey. I wanted to show you guys that this reputation is not very fair. The fact is there are plenty of things to see and do in New Jersey.
Here are a list of the places in New Jersey you need to check out :
Cape May County Park And Zoo
Animal lovers will really enjoy the Cape May County Park and Zoo located in Cape May in New Jersey. There are tons of animals for you to see and plenty of things to enjoy and, best of all, it’s free admission!
They take donations and appreciate any support you can offer, but they won’t make you pay to see the animals in the first place. It’s a great way to kill an afternoon and a wonderful place to take kids.
Cape May Beaches
Speaking of Cape May there are some great beaches for you to spend your time on. New Jersey has a coast and with a coast comes lovely sandy beaches. It’s a big beach and there’s never too much of a crowd. If you go during high tide you can see some good size waves too, ideal for boogie boarding.
The downside is that there’s a bit of a cost involved, but some people are willing to pay for a clean beach with concessions.
Princeton University
Despite the reputation you shouldn’t forget that New Jersey is the home of Princeton, and with it Princeton University. The public at large is allowed to visit the University and see first hand one of the great houses of education in the United States.
The university also sometimes puts on performances including a Christmas play. Not to mention the stadium. There’s a lot to enjoy at Princeton even if you aren’t a student.
Princeton University Art Museum
Staying in Princeton University, literally, you can visit the Princeton University Art Museum. There are some fantastic pieces on display in the museum as Princeton has quite a collection.
They’re also kind enough to offer it all for free. You can walk in, take in some much needed culture, and then walk back out. They have a good collection of European art including some Van Gogh paintings that are worth anyone’s time.
Silverball Pinball Museum

If you’d rather have some more fun you can head down to Asbury Park and enjoy the Silverball Pinball Museum. I know it is not super girly, but I have a thing for these machines.
You have to pay to get in but all the machines are free to use. And boy are there tons of machines. There’s more on offer besides just pinball too. If you like pinball then you’ll definitely love the pinball museum and you’ll lose a whole day in there before you know it.
New Jersey has something for everyone; from beach goers, to art lovers, to people who just want to have some fun. There’s bound to be something that you’ll enjoy there. Take the shore out of Jersey and you’re left with Jersey, which isn’t a bad place to be.
